Dentures are objects that are placed in the mouth to replace missing teeth. There are many negative consequences of missing teeth, to mention a few:
- The adjacent teeth begin to drift and tip into the gap.
- The opposing tooth begin to erupt into the space opposite to it, which could lead to joint problems in your jaw.
- A missing tooth in the back of the mouth could lead to impaired chewing function.
- And a missing tooth in the front of the mouth could lead to poor aesthetics.
Therefore it is always a good idea to replace a missing tooth if possible.
Dentures are a low cost way of replacing a missing tooth or teeth. In some cases a fixed replacement like an implant or a bridge might not possible and something removable like a denture might be a better option.
